# Phainotaxis
Phainotaxis is a philosophical and phenomenological framework developed by Tutone Ohévalon for mapping the patterned orientation of experience across experiential parameters, representational modalities, and perspectival operators.
The framework prioritizes experiential structure over metaphysical speculation, internal differentiation over external categorization, legibility of meaning-formation over explanation by causes alone.
For a list of key terms, see [[Glossary]].
It has several verification criteria including the eight pillars of [[Erosyntax]].
## Etymology
- **Phaino-** (φαίνω) → *to bring to light, to appear, to make manifest.* It’s the root behind *phenomenon* (*that which appears*) and *phantasm* (*that which shines forth*). Importantly, it names the event of appearance, not the thing appearing.
- **-taxis** (τάξις) → *ordering, arrangement, alignment.* The system is neutral about what *kind* of order.
Put together, Phainotaxis is the patterned ordering of appearances. It is how lived modes combine and recombine into the sense of coherence we call “reality.”
